Delhi mount Kailash Journey 15 Days

The Mt. Kailash Kora path starts on the western edge of Darchen. When leave the village behind and head westward across the Batkha Plain, you may not be able to see Mt. Kailash at first but still can view some other high mountains like Guria Mandata , Api in Nepal and Kamet in India. About 4km from Darchen, the trail climbs up to reach a cairn at 4790m which is bedecked with pray flags and marks the first view of Mt. Kailash southern face and also the first of the four prostration points. Very quickly the trail enters the barren Lha-chu Valley which is so open here that you can see ahead the tall Tarboche Flagpole (4750m) in distance, one of the most significant sites for Saga Dawa Festival in Tibet. To west of Tarboche is the "two-legged" Chorten Kangnyi. For pilgrims, it is an auspicious act to walk through the small chorten's archway. After a short climb to east, it comes to the sky burial site of the 84 mahasiddhas (Tantric practitioners). The first of the Three Buddha footprints is also here but can be hardly seen. You'll have superb view of the valley from here. The valley narrows dramatically at a place called Sershong and now you can get clear shots of Mt. Kailash. Chuku Monastery is perched high above the valley floor on the hillside to west. It 'hides' so secretively into the rocks that you may not be able to notice it. From Chuku Monastery to Diraphuk Monastery, it is about 3hrs trek. Please take your time for this stretch as it offers some of the best scenery of the entire Kora. On the way, you'll find the second prostration point and the second Buddha footprint as well as the carving of God Tamdrin. Diraphuk Monastery (Lhalung Dira 5080m) lies at a great location which directly faces the astonishing northern face of Mt. Kailash.
